Welcome to our 3rd Annual TSC-Color Me Free 5k fun run, to raise awareness and funds for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex!
This year our event will be held on March 5th, 2016 at 8:00am, at the Florida Sports Park, 8520 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd., Naples, FL 34114.
You’ll start out decked in all-white and finish in a spattering of bright neon colors. There will be 6 color stations, spaced at every ½ mile, with one and possibly more being a wet station!
Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in vital organs such as the brain, eyes, heart, kidneys, skin, liver and lungs. The tumors can lead to uncontrollable seizures, autism, heart disease, mental retardation, facial disfigurement and kidney failure. In fact, TSC is the number one known genetic cause of both epilepsy and autism and people with TSC often develop learning and behavioral problems. TSC affects some people severely, while others are so mildly affected that it often goes undiagnosed. At least two children born each day in the United States will have TSC. Current estimates place TSC affected births at 1 in 6,000. Nearly 1 million people worldwide are known to have TSC, with approximately 50,000 in the United States. Our goal is to bring awareness to this disease as more people are affected with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex than Lou Gehrig’s disease. TSC knows no racial, cultural or economic barriers and currently has no cure.
We thank you for coming and for supporting such a wonderful cause!
